The owner needed a building for three vehicles plus a small tractor, and a guest apartment above. In keeping with the material vocabulary of the house, stone, clapboards, and slate were used. By using more stone than on the house, this building has its own identity yet still relates to the structure near by.
The face material of the garage doors was installed on site by the carpenter. The backing panels and glass were fabricated by a local overhead door vendor.
